NEWPORT BEACH, CA. – Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell is the Lott IMPACT® Trophy Player of the Week for week 8 of the 2023 college football season. Campbell recovered a fumble, to go with 10 tackles, six solo, one for a loss, in the Crimson Tides 34-20 win over #17 Tennessee.
Campbell is a sophomore from Erial, N.J., and attended IMG Academy where he was considered the top edge rusher in his recruiting class. On the season, Campbell has 39 tackles, an interception, a fumble recovery, and two QB hurries.
The Lott IMPACT® Trophy player of the week is determined in part by a panel of Lott Trophy board members, former players and coaches, as well as members of the media. That panel represents sixty percent of votes, while an online fan vote is used to determine the other forty percent.
The Lott IMPACT® Trophy is awarded annually to individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of athletics and recognizes college football’s Defensive Player of the Year who best exemplifies the IMPACT acronym: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

MIKE SAINRISTIL, DB, Michigan, Sr.- Returned an interception 72 yards for a touchdown, also had a pass broken up and made 2 tackles in the Wolverines 49-0 win over Michigan State.
JT TUIMOLOAU, DB, Ohio State, Jr. - Had a sack and broke up a pass in the Buckeyes 20-12 win over #7 Penn State.
EVAN WILLIAMS, DB, Oregon, Sr.- Game high 14 tackles, 8 solo, including a sack in the Ducks 38-24 win over Washington State.
