2024 Chicago Bears Draft

The CHICAGO BEARS 2024 Draft Recap

Team Needs:

QB, WR, OL, DL

Summary:

"Da Bears", took a quality over quantity approach to this draft and selected talent to assist their offense, defense and special teams. What needs to be noted is that this grade is not reflective of them solely getting Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall selection. As you will see he is actually been given a lower grade than some of their other selections. Why?

Because, as noted in previous post leading up to the draft, the risk of selecting a first-round quarterback is tremendously high. The Bears are well aware of these risky endevours as they have been burned not once, but twice by selected Mitchell Trubisky (2017) and Justin Fields (2021). GM Ryan Poles, is crossing his fingers and hoping a third time is a charm in drafting Williams.

The Bears get pretty lucky to have Odunze fall to them at No. 9, followed by quality picks in position of needs with their other 3 selections. I do think the the pu ter they selected Tory Taylor is the best punter in the draft. However, both the players grade and teams grade reflect the risk involved in using 20% of their draft capital on a punter.  Just another example that ratings are not reflective solely on the players ability, but also the risk the team is taking in selecting them.
