Overview
Cam Ward is an impressive athlete for the quarterback position. He has an excellent build at about 6’2, 220+ pounds with plus athletic ability to extend and make plays outside the pocket, and pick up yards with his legs when the opportunities are there.
Cam can be surgical within the pocket as well as he shows very good accuracy & touch to just about every level, can throw with good anticipation vs Man & Zone and has an exceptional arm to make any throw asked of him. Ward also shows good poise when pressured and even when behind on the scoreboard; he may get big play happy when down or make a bad throw but he does a good job regaining his composure and playing within himself. Ward can get tricked vs disguised coverages and make bad throws which he will need to learn from. Also has bad tendency to make crossfield throws that can result in turnovers. The vast majority of his snaps in college were in shotgun in a heavy RPO scheme which could bring questions about his ability to function successfully under center. I came away very impressed with Cam Ward, I tho k time will be needed for him to adjust and get comfortable with pro defenses, but if not rushed in a bad situation Ward has real potential to be a franchise QB.
