RB James Conner is unlikely to play in Sunday's showdown against the New England Patriots in Pittsburgh because of an ankle injury, according to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Conner missed Pittsburgh's loss at Oakland last week and practiced on a limited basis Friday after sitting out Tuesday and Wednesday. He is expected to be ready for the Week 16 game against the Saints in New Orleans.

G Salesi Uhatafe was signed by the Lions to their practice squad Friday (December 14). He had been waived by the Falcons Sept. 1. Uhatafe comes to the Lions after most recently spending the preseason with the Atlanta Falcons, who signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Utah following the 2018 draft.

G Kaleb Johnson was signed by the Eagles to their practice squad Friday (December 14). He had been waived by the Vikings Sept. 1.

WR Deontez Alexander was released from the practice squad by the Lions Friday (December 14).

WR Martavis Bryant (Raiders) was indefinitely placed on reserve/suspended by the commissioner Friday (Dec. 14). Bryant, who was on reserve/injured, will miss at least one year.

T Jordan Mailata (back) was placed on reserve/injured by the Eagles Friday (December 14). He will miss the remainder of the 2018 season.

RB Isaiah Crowell (toe) was placed on reserve/injured by the Jets Friday (December 14). He will miss the remainder of the 2018 season.

WR Martavis Bryant of the Oakland Raiders was suspended indefinitely by the NFL on Friday for a violation of the league's substance abuse policy. It was the third such suspension for Bryant, who is on the Injured Reserve List. QB Carson Wentz will not need surgery for his back injury and might be able to play on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, head coach Doug Pederson told reporters on Friday. Wentz has a fracture in his back and originally was listed as questionable for the Rams game, but later in the day was downgraded to doubtful. "He has a stress injury evolved over time and requires no surgery," Pederson told reporters. ...

CB Kendall Fuller of the Kansas City Chiefs played through what is believed to be a broken wrist against the Los Angeles Chargers and had surgery on Friday morning, the NFL Network reported. Fuller will be out for an undetermined length of time, a blow to the Kansas City defense because he is perhaps the best player in a secondary that has allowed the most yards in the NFL this season.
