By Darryl Slater | NJ Advance Media for NJ. com Perhaps lost amid all the Giants’ coaching staff turnover this offseason: General manager Joe Schoen could soon lose his right-hand man, Brandon Brown. Brown, the Giants’ assistant GM, recently got a second interview for the Panthers’ GM job, according to NFL Network.
So Brown is a finalist for the job. He has also interviewed for the Chargers’ GM vacancy. The Panthers and Chargers both are also seeking a new head coach.
Brown is second in command in the Giants’ front office, behind Schoen. Brown is considered a rising, young GM candidate, at just 35 years old. And he has experience working in the Eagles’ highly respected front office — which certainly boosts his resume.
Will this be the offseason that Brown gets his first GM job, two years after Schoen got his? Brown joined Schoen with the Giants in 2022, when the organization also hired coach Brian Daboll. Before that, Brown spent five seasons with the Eagles. He was promoted to director of player personnel in 2021.
Brown oversaw the Eagles’ pro scouting department and did crossover work on the college scouting side. Brown joined the Eagles in 2017 and was their assistant director of pro scouting in his first two seasons. In 2019, he was promoted to the director of pro scouting.
He held that job for two years. In 2015 and 2016, Brown was a scouting assistant and and advance scout for the Colts. .
