Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett to buy ownership stake in Cavs

Akron Beacon Journal The Cavs have a new minority owner, and it’s a name more often associated with another sport in town. Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett will become a minority owner of the Cavs, according to a release by the team Wednesday afternoon. Garrett will also become an official Cavaliers brand ambassador.

“As a leader on and off the field, Myles has become a Cleveland icon and shares in our organization’s commitment to being a transformative force for good across the region,” Cavs chairman Dan Gilbert said in the release. “We are honored to welcome this long-time friend of the team as our new partner and investor. Myles’ passion and commitment to the city he loves will allow us to reach new communities and continue to build the successful future of this franchise.

” Browns win awards:Myles Garrett, Dustin Hopkins earn AFC Player of the Week awards for win over Colts Garrett has been a longtime basketball fan, and participated in the 2022 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland. Garrett has even shown off his crossover on the field for the Browns this season. “I have admired the Cavaliers organization’s hard work, tenacity and dedication to the community since my early days in Cleveland,” Garrett said in the release.

“To have the opportunity to join this impressive and purpose-filled franchise, under Dan’s leadership, is truly a dream come true. ” This isn’t the only Browns connection to the NBA. Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam purchased shares of the Milwaukee Bucks franchise in February.
