NBC's Cris Collinsworth had 'live orgasm' over Jets' Zach Wilson: Bill Simmons

If you noticed Cris Collinsworth getting overly excited about Zach Wilson’s surprising performance Sunday night, you were not alone. Wilson was 28-of-39 for 245 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions and a lost fumble as the Jets were in the game against the defending champion Chiefs until the final minute in a 23-20 loss. Speaking on his eponymous podcast, Bill Simmons hilariously ribbed Collinsworth for going over the top in his praise on NBC’s telecast.

“Cris Collinsworth — I didn’t know somebody could have a live orgasm for an hour-and-a-half on the air,” Simmons joked. “It was like when Howard Stern has the people ride the Sybian [a masturbation device]. Like Ohhhhhh Zach Wilson! Ohhhhhhh he’s making all the throws! Mike ahhhhhhh! Bill Simmons and his podcast host Cousin Sal Iocano ribbed Cris Collinsworth for being over-the-top in his praise of Zach Wilson on Sunday night.

“He was like losing his mind! I’ve never heard anyone hype up a … decent performance — I won’t be telling my grandkids about Zach Wilson tonight. ” Simmons’ co-host, Cousin Sal Iacono, responded by imitating Collinsworth’s voice: “Ohh, are you kidding me? Bill, if I don’t get to induct Zach Wilson into Canton something’s very wrong. Don’t let me come across Joe Namath in a dark alley! I’m gonna punch his lights out!” Cousin Sal was referencing how Jets legend Joe Namath called for Wilson’s permanent banishment after last week’s brutal performance against the Patriots.

Simmons continued the bit, also pantomiming Collinsworth: “Who was saying that Zach Wilson couldn’t make all the throws? I mean, look at this Mike (Tirico)!” “The last four weeks he didn’t make any of these throws,” Simmons continued, speaking in his own voice. The duo returned to the amusing bit a couple more times throughout the podcast as they weaved in and out of their weekly preview of Sunday’s games with a look-ahead to guessing next week’s lines. "You can't play quarterback better than this! All these throws are perfect… Wow, what a drive!"- Cris Collinsworth as Zach Wilson throws a TD and gets a game-tying 2-point conversion.

#SNF pic. twitter. com/VkKQW8RsY4 — Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) October 2, 2023 For his part, Wilson took the blame for his fumbled snap with 7:24 remaining in the fourth quarter, after which the Jets were unable to get the ball back as Patrick Mahomes bled out the clock.

“It’s on me,” Wilson said. “Critical situation. I can’t have a play like that.

I cannot drop the ball. This team is sacrificing a lot. Guys are making plays.

Defense is making plays. The line is protecting. Receivers are making plays.

To be driving right there and to drop a snap, I cannot do that. I lost us that game and I cannot do that. ” .
