Update: Tracking NFL Draft Scout Top 200

The latest version of NFL Draft Scout's player ratings gives overdue recognition to prospects who have shown enough ability after eight or nine games that they are making their first appearance in our Top 200.

 

That includes four who made the jump from our so-called unranked area -- which is anybody below 350 at this point. OK, we are a bit embarrassed about overlooking some, especially Tennessee's prolific junior slot receiver Jalin Hyatt, who is now No. 49.

 

Based on reactions from scouts, this ascent should continue, and he could become part conversations about first round prospects.

 

Others jumping from below 350 into the top 200 are No. 144 Julius Brents, a redshirt senior cornerback with Kansas State; No. 162 Daiyan Henley, a redshirt senior inside linebacker for Washington State; and No. 178 Cory Trice, a redshirt senior cornerback with Purdue.

 

For anybody who didn’t know much about Hyatt previously, he exploded into the consciousness of pro scouts when he caught five touchdowns against Alabama three weeks back. If we update his stats to include the Kentucky game last week, the 6-0, 188-pound prospect caught 45 of 58 targets this season for 907 yards -- almost 400 after the catch -- and 14 touchdowns. He dropped one pass, in the season opener.

 

Not coincidentally, Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker, who made a big move up a few weeks back, is also still climbing. We have him as the fourth-ranked quarterback, No. 24 overall, but the former four-star prep recruit may push his way into the top three.

 

Updating his stats with that spectacular show against Kentucky, Hooker has completed 156 of 220 passes for 2,338 yards with 21 touchdowns and only one interception. He also ran for 418 yards and four more touchdowns.

 

Expect more changes as more games refine our focus in the constant evolution of rating players for the NFL Draft. So, back to the video.
