Packers sign CB Breeland, place House on IR

The Green Bay Packers signed Bashaud Breeland to a contract and placed fellow cornerback Davon House on injured reserve with an ailing shoulder, the team announced Wednesday. Breeland worked out with fellow cornerbacks David Amerson and Arrion Springs on Tuesday. The 26-year-old Breeland has been seeking a job since failing a physical due to a toe injury with the Carolina Panthers during the offseason, nullifying a three-year, $24 million deal with the club. A fourth-round draft pick of Washington in 2014, Breeland started 15 games for the Redskins last season. He had 50 tackles (37 solo), broke up 19 pass attempts and returned an interception 96 yards for a touchdown. Breeland has collected 271 tackles and eight interceptions in 60 NFL games. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Breeland will join Tramon Williams, Jaire Alexander, Josh Jackson and Kevin King as cornerback options in Green Bay. House registered two tackles in three contests this season for the Packers, who re-signed him to a one-year, $1.005 million deal after he played in 12 games in 2017. The 29-year-old House began his career in Green Bay as a fourth-round pick in 2011 and then signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2015. House has recorded 222 tackles, seven interceptions and three sacks in 87 career contests. Green Bay has allowed 262 passing yards per game (21st in NFL) and have permitted a passer rating of 103.1 (24th) through three weeks.
