NFL notebook: Texans' Miller ruled out

Houston running back Lamar Miller (26) won't play against Philadelphia on Sunday.
Houston Texans running back Lamar Miller was ruled out for Sunday's game at the Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced Saturday. Miller was limited in practice all week by an ankle injury suffered in last week's 29-22 victory over the New York Jets and was listed as questionable on Friday's injury report before the team downgraded him to out Saturday. The Texans (10-4) can clinch the AFC South title with a win over the reigning Super Bowl champions on Sunday. Miller was a huge part of the turnaround by the Texans, who opened the season with three losses before ripping off nine straight victories to seize control of the division. In his seventh NFL season overall and third with Houston, Miller is 83 yards shy of reaching 1,000 for the third time in his career. --The New Orleans Saints have activated wide receiver Ted Ginn from injured reserve, the New Orleans Advocate reported. Ginn has been out since Week 7 because of a knee injury, leaving most of the receiving chores to Michael Thomas. Ginn returned to practice this week. Ginn has appeared in only four games this season, catching 12 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns. --Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota left Saturday's game against the Washington Redskins with what the team called a stinger. Mariota departed with less than one minute left in the first half after he was sacked by defensive end Jonathan Allen. He appeared to land hard on his right throwing elbow. Blaine Gabbert, who was 36-of-61 passing with two touchdowns and two interceptions while appearing in six games this season (two starts), replaced Mariota. --San Francisco 49ers safety Jaquiski Tartt was placed on injured reserve. Tartt suffered through an injury-plagued 2018 season because of a shoulder issue that caused him to sit out six games, including the past two. Tartt, a second-round pick of San Francisco in the 2015 NFL Draft, wound up making eight starts and registering 41 tackles with an interception and two passes defensed this season.
