NFL notebook: Redskins sign CB Scandrick

Two days after being released by the Dallas Cowboys, cornerback Orlando Scandrick joined an NFC East rival. Scandrick signed with the Washington Redskins, the team announced Monday. Terms of the deal were not announced, but NFL.com reported that Scandrick agreed to a two-year deal with a maximum value of $10 million. Scandrick might fill the slot role left vacant when Kendall Fuller was traded to the Kanas City Chiefs for quarterback Alex Smith. Scandrick requested his release before free agency started last week and the Cowboys waited until Saturday to cut him. --The Denver Broncos traded quarterback Trevor Siemian to the Minnesota Vikings, the team announced. The Broncos also sent a seventh-round pick (No. 225) in next month's draft to Minnesota and obtained a fifth-round selection in the 2019 draft from the Vikings. Siemian, 26, was named the starting quarterback out of training camp each of the past two seasons. Last season, Siemian started 10 of the 11 games he appeared in and completed 206 of 349 passes for 2,285 yards, with 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions for a quarterback rating of 73.3. --The Los Angeles Chargers have reached agreement with free-agent center Mike Pouncey on a two-year contract, the team announced. The deal is worth $15 million, with $10 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Miami Dolphins released Pouncey, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, when they acquired center Daniel Kilgore from the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday. --The New England Patriots acquired wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson in a trade with the Oakland Raiders, the team announced. The Patriots did not release terms of the trade but a fifth-round pick in the 2018 draft is reportedly being sent to Oakland. In 80 regular-season games (24 starts) with the Oakland Raiders and Minnesota Vikings, Patterson has 163 receptions for 1,625 yards and seven touchdowns. As a returner, earned him two All-Pro and three Pro Bowl selections on special teams. --The Los Angeles Rams agreed to terms with defensive tackle Dominique Easley on a one-year deal, keeping him with the team after he missed all of last season with a torn ACL, the club announced. Easley signed with Los Angeles as a free agent prior to the 2016 season, when he recorded 3.5 sacks in a situational role. The Rams are expected to get a visit Tuesday from Ndamukong Suh, the top defensive tackle on the free agent market. --Wide receiver Jarius Wright, who was released by the Minnesota Vikings last week, has agreed to a contract with the Carolina Panthers, multiple media outlets reported. Wright is expected to a sign a two-year deal worth up to $3.5 million in the first season, according to NFL Media. Wright, 28, had 18 catches for 198 and two touchdowns in 16 regular-season games for the Viking last season, and he added six receptions for 107 yards in two playoff games. --Linebacker Shea McClellin, who missed the entire 2017 season with a concussion, was released by the New England Patriots. The Patriots used a failed physical designation to cut McClellin. --The Pittsburgh Steelers were looking for help at linebacker and they signed Jon Bostic to a two-year contract. The team initially announced the deal Sunday and it became official when Bostic passed his physical Monday. Bostic plays inside linebacker -- the same position as Ryan Shazier, who suffered a serious spinal injury in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals in December and will miss all of 2018. --The New York Giants announced they have added wide receiver Cody Latimer and cornerback B.W. Webb and have retained defensive end Kerry Wynn. Latimer, 25, had 19 receptions for 287 yards and two touchdowns for the Denver Broncos last season. Webb was signed to a one-year deal by the Giants, multiple media outlets reported. He played in 14 games, including seven starts, for the New Orleans Saints in 2017. Wynn re-signed with the Giants on a one-year deal, multiple media outlets reported. He has been with the Giants for four seasons, and he played in 15 games, including three starts, in 2017. --The New York Jets announced the signing of free-agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater on Sunday, and ESPN's Dan Graziano provided some details of the deal on Monday. Bridgewater signed a one-year contract, according to the report, and only $500,000 of it is guaranteed. He gets a $5 million non-guaranteed salary and $500,000 workout bonuses. Incentives for playing time and various statistical achievements could bring his salary for 2018 to $9 million. --Joe Thomas officially said goodbye to his playing career and looked ahead to what comes next. The longtime Cleveland Browns offensive tackle held a press conference to announce his retirement on Monday. "I've had a lot of outstanding memories of my 11 years in Cleveland," Thomas said. Thomas said he hopes to be around football either in broadcasting or in coaching. "I'm not sure. I think there's a few opportunities I'm exploring right now," he said. "I'm keeping all my doors open and I'm going to look for something that's the right fit for me and my family. I know part of the things that I'm excited with this retirement, obviously I'm going to be sad that I'm done with playing football, but I'm really excited to be able to spend more time with my family." --Tyrann Mathieu officially joined the Houston Texans on a one-year deal, and the safety views his new team as a "fresh start." The deal is for $7 million, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Mathieu signed with the Texans after being released by the Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday in a cost-savings move. "I just want to prove my point that I'm one of the best safeties in this league," he said at his introductory press conference in Houston. --Wide receiver Terrelle Pryor, one of the top free agents still available, is scheduled to visit the New York Jets on Tuesday, according to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. --The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a pair of moves on their defensive line as they officially announced they signed defensive end Vinny Curry and released Robert Ayers Jr., who also is a defensive end. Besides signing Curry and releasing Ayers, the Buccaneers also signed center Ryan Jensen. --Quarterback Carson Wentz gave the Philadelphia Eagles some encouragement when he made throws inside the team's practice facility in a video posted to his social media account. Wentz, who is rehabbing from a torn ACL and LCL, posted 12-second clip on his Instagram page. The video is a montage of him dropping back to pass four times while he wears a brace on his left knee.
