NFL Friday Injury Report

New York Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold will miss a second straight game because of a foot injury.
Rookie quarterback Sam Darnold will miss another game Sunday because of a foot injury and won't play against the New England Patriots. Is there any chance Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will also be unable to play? No one expects that to happen, but some mystery occurred Friday when there were reports that Brady wasn't on the field for the portion of practice open to the media. He had been listed as limited on Wednesday and Thursday because of a knee injury believed to have been suffered in the fourth quarter of the team's Week 10 34-10 loss to Tennessee. The Patriots were on their bye last week. When the injury report was released later Friday, indeed, Brady was listed as did not practice, and illness was included along with the knee issue, as he was officially ruled questionable for Sunday. The play on which the injury occurred came on a third-down pass from wide receiver Julian Edelman to Brady, which gained six yards, but was one yard short of a first down at the Titans' 37-yard line. The Patriots trailed, 27-10, at that point. After a false start, Brady tossed an incompletion on fourth down, and that turned out to be his last snap of the game. Tennessee scored a touchdown, on its ensuing possession, and Brian Hoyer entered the game with 7:06 to play. He quarterbacked New England's final eight snaps of the game.
