Lions put Cleary on reserve-retired list
Detroit Lions offensive tackle Emmett Cleary (77) appeared in seven games in 2017 in what appears to have been his last season.
The Detroit Lions placed offensive tackle Emmett Cleary on the reserve-retired list, the team announced Tuesday.
Cleary appeared in seven games, making one start, in 2017 in his lone season with the Lions.
In late December, Cleary pledged to donate his brain to the Concussion Legacy Foundation to aid with research into chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
The 27-year-old Cleary appeared in a career-high 13 games with the Dallas Cowboys in 2016 and started one game.
The former Boston College product, who was born in Japan, also was on the rosters of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2014 and New York Giants in 2015, but never saw the field.
