Jeremy Bates is expected to be coaching the offense for the Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
Jeremy Bates is expected to be elevated to offensive coordinator of the New York Jets, according to an ESPN report. Bates, who served as quarterbacks coach last season, replaces John Morton, who was fired last week after one season as coordinator. Bates' coaching experience dates to 2002, when he was an assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He served as quarterbacks coach with the Chicago Bears in 2012 before taking four years off. He was also offensive coordinator with the Seattle Seahawks in 2010 and quarterbacks coach with the Denver Broncos in 2008, guiding Jay Cutler to his only Pro Bowl season. "He was instrumental early in my career," Cutler told the New York Daily News about Bates in September. "Getting me off to a good start. (He's) one of the best play-callers and coaches I've ever been around to this day. ..." According to the Daily News, the Jets might also hire a running game coordinator to assist Bates.
