Flacco doubtful for Sunday's game
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco (5) sat out the past two games due to a hip injury.
The status of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco remains murky for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Flacco, sidelined for the past two games due to a hip injury, practiced on a limited basis for the second straight day on Saturday and made "quite a bit of progress," Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters.
Harbaugh said Flacco was an "option" to see playing time Sunday against Atlanta, but noted that "there's still doctors involved at this point." The team later listed Flacco as doubtful for the contest on Friday's injury report.
Flacco last played in Week 9 when he suffered a hip injury in a 23-16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Nov. 4. He sat out Baltimore's wins over the Oakland Raiders and Cincinnati Bengals.
"I thought he looked good yesterday, he looked a lot better today," observed Harbaugh. "The biggest thing was is he didn't have a setback from yesterday."
Rookie Lamar Jackson delivered two flashy performances in the two games Flacco sat out. The 2016 Heisman Award winner rushed for 190 yards, including 117 in 24-21 win over Cincinnati in Week 11 after Baltimore's bye week.
Flacco initially sustained the injury when Steelers defensive end Stephon Tuitt drove him to the ground on the sixth play of the game. Tuitt was penalized for being offsides and on the next play Cameron Heyward hit Flacco, who stayed in the game and completed 23 of 37 passes for 206 yards.
Baltimore (6-5) currently holds the sixth and final playoff seed in the AFC, owning a tiebreaker over the Indianapolis Colts. Four other teams are one game back at 5-6.
