Rutgers football lands top New York prospect Korey Duff Jr. to cap hectic recruiting month

Rutgers capped off a hectic, successful recruiting month with one more addition. And it’s a big one. Korey Duff Jr., a Class of 2024 wide receiver from St. Anthony’s High School on Long Island, announced Thursday night that he was committing to Greg Schiano and the Scarlet Knights. The 6-foot-5, 207-pound Duff, who also plays tight end for his high school team, is rated a four-star prospect and the No. 2 overall recruit in New York, according to the 247Sports Composite. Rivals ranks him as the top prospect in the state. Duff boasted a long list of Power 5 offers and in May narrowed down his choices to seven – Rutgers, Central Florida, North Carolina, Miami, Texas, Texas A&M and Syracuse. He ultimately decided to stay close to home. Rutgers has had success recruiting in New York with its last few classes, landing top-10 recruits in 2023 with WRs Deondre Johnson, Ian Strong, and Dylan Braithwaite, and QB Ajani Sheppard, along with top-ranked New York recruit Moses Walker in the 2022 class. Strong and Duff are former high school teammates who will be reunited at Rutgers. Duff, who took an official visit to Rutgers earlier this month and has been on campus for multiple unofficial visits, had 42 catches for 995 yards and 12 touchdowns his junior season. The addition of Duff gives Rutgers another big, fast target with length. The Scarlet Knights’ 2024 recruiting class now comprises 20 players from nine different states.
