Texas defensive backs Kris Boyd and B.J. Foster escaped serious injury after being involved in a car accident. Boyd, who is entering his senior season, posted photos on his personal Twitter account of his vehicle after it allegedly was rear-ended by another car earlier on Wednesday. He was the passenger in a car driven by Foster. "Our angels had their hands over us today, "Boyd wrote. "Got rear-ended and smashed! We're doing a lot better. Thank you to those who reached out. Could've been gone but we here." Boyd had 53 tackles and a Big 12-best 15 pass breakups while starting 12 of 13 games last season. Foster is part of the Longhorns' decorated 2018 recruiting class. --Georgia starting quarterback Jake Fromm broke a bone in his non-throwing hand earlier this week, multiple media outlets reported. Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart confirmed the injury to the Athens Banner-Herald on Wednesday but didn't view it as much of a setback. "Small fracture in non-throwing hand," Smart told the newspaper, "already throwing with it -- won't miss any summer workouts -- insignificant." Fromm, who led the Bulldogs to the national championship game last season, was hurt in a wakeboarding mishap in Georgia. The hand was placed in a splint and will not require a cast, Rivals.com reported, citing a source. --Former Arkansas State running back Chauncey Mason transferred to Florida Atlantic, multiple media outlets reported. An FAU spokesperson confirmed the addition of Mason, per collegefootballtalk.com. Mason will have to sit out the 2018 season and will have one year of eligibility remaining. The 21-year-old Florida native rushed 27 times for 137 yards in eight games last season, good enough for fifth best with the Red Wolves. He also had two receptions for 15 yards and returned seven kicks for 129 yards. --Wisconsin defensive end Garrett Rand was ruled out for the 2018 season because of an Achilles injury. Rand was hurt during offseason workouts and had been listed as out indefinitely, but Badgers defensive line coach Inoke Breckterfield told ESPN that the injury is season-ending, per the Wisconsin State Journal. Although Rand had 13 tackles in 14 games last season, he was projected as a starter in 2018 after Wisconsin lost defensive linemen Conor Sheehy, Alec James and Chikwe Obasih.
