Northwestern will play host to Wisconsin in 2020 the first college football game at Wrigley Field in Chicago since 2010.
College football will return to Wrigley Field in Chicago for the first time in 10 years when Northwestern will host Wisconsin in 2020, the Chicago Tribune reported on Wednesday. Sources said the official announcement will be made Tuesday at Wrigley. Northwestern last played at Wrigley in 2010, when it hosted Illinois, but the teams could use only one end zone because of safety concerns due to limited field space. Recent renovations to the ballpark, home of the Chicago Cubs, created enough space for a field with two usable end zones when the game is played on Nov. 7, 2020. The Tribune story said Northwestern selected Wisconsin over Illinois, which it hosts on Nov. 28, 2020, because it didn't want to give any marketing advantages to its in-state rival. Wrigley Field will be the second unique venue for Wisconsin in 2020, as the Badgers also will face Notre Dame at Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, in Green Bay, Wis. The Chicago Bears of the NFL played their home games at Wrigley from 1921 to 1970. --Washington State wide receiver Robert Lewis has been granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA. The NCAA approved Lewis' waiver, which will allow him to play during the 2018 season. Lewis redshirted in 2013 before entering Washington State's wide receiver rotation for the next three seasons. He sustained a knee injury before the 2017 campaign and did not play. In the three seasons he has played for the Cougars, Lewis started 22 games and made 117 receptions for 1,254 yards and six touchdowns. Washington State has lost wide receivers Tavares Martin, who was dismissed from the program, and Isaiah Johnson-Mack, who received his release from the program in December. Lewis, a native of Los Angeles, has completed his bachelor's degree and is pursuing a second degree. --Safety Marcus Walker of Kentucky has been dismissed from team by head coach Mark Stoops following his arrest in Lexington, Ky., on charges of trafficking cocaine and marijuana, the school announced. The Kentucky statement had no other information, other than saying he made 17 tackles in 21 career games. Walker, a junior, must appear at a June 20 hearing in Fayette District Court after being released last Friday on a $1,000 surety bond. Lexington police arrested the 21-year-old Walker and another man last Thursday after finding at least five pounds of marijuana and four grams of cocaine during a search of an off-campus apartment. A large amount of cash and a cash counter also were found. Walker, of Lake Wales, Fla., also was charged with possessing drug paraphernalia. --Syracuse announced that tackle Koda Martin, a graduate transfer from Texas A&M, has enrolled and is eligible to play immediately. Syracuse head Coach Dino Babers is Martin's father-in-law, and Kirk Martin, his father, is in his first season as quarterback coach for the Orange. The younger Martin announced in a Twitter post last month that he would make the move. "I receive my degree in May, and this chapter of my life is coming to a close," Martin wrote, adding that playing for his father-in-law and father was "an opportunity that I didn't want to pass up." The 6-foot-6, 310-pound Martin played in 13 games for the Aggies last season, starting all but two at left tackle for an offense that averaged nearly 390 yards per game. Martin married Babers' daughter, Jazzmin Babers, a former volleyball star at Texas A&M, last July.
