Tops pick up commitment from West Florida transfer DB
Western Kentucky’s football team picked up a commitment from former West Florida defensive back Anthony Johnson Jr. on Wednesday.
Johnson, who announced his commitment on his Twitter social media account, would reunite with current WKU starting quarterback Austin Reed with the Hilltoppers. Reed played at NCAA Division II West Florida in 2021, Johnson’s freshman season, before transferring to WKU.
This past season at West Florida, Johnson saw action in 12 games and totaled 44 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks. He also tallied three interceptions, nine pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
As a freshman in 2021, Johnson totaled 15 tackles, a pair of interceptions, six pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
