Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack (52) exits the field at the end of the first half against the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium on Oct. 14.
Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack will miss the first game of his NFL career on Sunday. Mack, who had played in 70 consecutive contests since entering the NFL, was ruled inactive for Sunday's game against the New York Jets at Soldier Field in Chicago. The 2016 NFL Defensive Player of the Year was listed as questionable with a right ankle injury on Friday. Mack was expected to take part in pregame warmups prior to the final decision by the Bears (3-3). Mack has been a dominating force in Chicago's first four games after being acquired in a trade with the Oakland Raiders on the week of the season opener. He sustained the sprained ankle against the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 14. The 27-year-old Mack had 17 total tackles, including five sacks, and forced four fumbles in the first four games of the season. He has only three tackles and no sacks in the two games since being injured. The Bears will also be without wide receiver Allen Robinson, who was ruled inactive with a groin injury. Robinson is the Bears' third-leading receiver this season with 25 receptions for 285 yards and two touchdowns. Guard Eric Kush, cornerback Marcus Cooper, fullback Michael Burton, offensive lineman Rashaad Coward and defensive lineman Nick Williams were also ruled inactive for the Bears.
