MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Central Michigan senior offensive lineman Deiyantei Powell-Woods was named to the Outland Trophy Watch List by the Football Writers Association of America, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon. The FWAA released its 2023 Watch List, which includes 91 FBS players from around the nation. Powell-Woods is one of three Mid-American Conference players on the Watch List.

The Outland Trophy is awarded to the best college football interior lineman in the United States as judged by the FAA. The recipient of the 2023 Outland Trophy will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards, live on ESPN in December. The official presentation to the winner will be made at the Outland Trophy Awards Dinner sponsored by Werner Enterprises and produced by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee in Omaha, Neb., on Jan. 10, 2024.

Powell-Woods is a consensus preseason All-MAC selection upon entering into his senior season. Over his career, he has seen action in 29 career games and started 28 as an offensive lineman. In all, he has started 25 consecutive games. As a junior offensive lineman, Powell-Woods started all 12 games at left guard and earned Third Team All-MAC honors. He also served as team captain in five contests.
As a sophomore in 2021, Powell-Woods played in 12 games, making 11 starts and was part of a line that blocked for the nation's leading rusher, Lew Nichols III (1,848 total yards/142.2 yards per game), and a unit that ranked third in the MAC in total offense (443.4 yards per game) and passing (265.4 yards per game).
An organizational leadership major, Powell-Woods is a Bluefield, W.Va. native who played high school football at Bluefield H.S.
Central Michigan begins preseason practice later today.
