Alabama Roots: Top 10 in NFL touchdowns

Julio Jones caught two touchdowns passes from Tom Brady for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2022 regular season during the wide receiver’s third straight injury-affected campaign. But that was enough to elevate Jones into the top 10 for NFL touchdowns among players from Alabama high schools and colleges.
Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry scored 13 touchdowns and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill scored nine TDs during the 2022 season. After they broke into the top 10 in 2021, the pair made a jump among the NFL players with Alabama football roots in 2022, with Henry climbing from eighth to fourth and Hill moving from ninth into a tie for sixth.
Former Alabama All-American Don Hutson became the first NFL player to score 100 touchdowns as a trend-setting wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers.
Alexander City’s Terrell Owens ranks fifth in NFL history with 156 touchdowns for five teams over 15 seasons. The only players ahead of the Benjamin Russell High School alumnus on the NFL’s TD list are Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, LaDainian Tomlinson and Randy Moss.
Former Alabama standout Shaun Alexander scored 28 of his 112 touchdowns for the Seattle Seahawks in 2005, which broke the NFL single-season record. That mark has been surpassed once, by Tomlinson’s 31 TDs in 2006.
Henry and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (Alabama) with 13 apiece were the players with Alabama football roots who scored the most touchdowns during the 2022 NFL season.
