Syracuse earns 2 commitments on second weekend of June Ovs

Emily Leiker | Syracuse, N.Y. – In the midst of a busy weekend of official visits, Syracuse football earned two commitments for its 2024 class. Running back Jaden Hart and linebacker Zekai Wimberly, both among the group of at least nine visitors this weekend, announced their commitments Saturday night via Twitter. Hart, a three-star, is the No. 9 player in Indiana according to 247 Sports. He’s 5-foot-10, 195 pounds and had offers from 16 other schools including Purdue, Michigan State and Nebraska. In May, Hart was visited at Michigan City High School by SU running backs coach Mike Lynch. Lynch is Babers’ longest-tenured assistant coach and is a former offensive coordinator for the team. The Orange currently has six running backs on roster, including projected 2023 starter LeQuint Allen, a sophomore, and true freshmen Ike Daniels and Muwaffaq Parkman. Wimberly is from West Orange, New Jersey, and was offered by the Orange last summer. He’s 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds. He also had offers from Ole Miss, Temple and Towson. Syracuse’s linebacking unit has been one of its strongest in recent years. This year’s group, led by returning starter and captain Marlowe Wax, was named No. 5 in the ACC by Phil Steele in his annual college football preview magazine. The two additions bring Syracuse’s 2024 class to seven total commitments. The Orange entered summer with verbal pledges from twin linebackers Travon and Trashon Dye, who also visited this weekend, and offensive lineman Noah Rosahac. Rosahac was scheduled to visit alongside them but announced Friday he’d be making the trip to the Salt City next week instead. After last weekend’s official visits, defensive ends Tristen Graham and David McMorris both committed to SU. Syracuse’s recruiting class currently ranks No. 13 in the ACC (before adding Hart and Wimberly) according to 247 Sports. SU has yet to earn a commitment from anyone above a three-star, and its current overall rank is No. 57 in the country.
