Texas is a dream school for ascending JUCO CB Marcell Anderson
On Tuesday, Texas hosted a visitor in 2024 junior college cornerback Marcell Anderson of Diablo Valley College in California.
The visit was actually his second trip to Austin, and according to an interview with 247Sports was the first time he went through the full visit process.
“I think the difference this time is the updated film that I had,” Anderson told Horns247. “I feel like that was a difference maker. So I was able to go through the whole recruiting process. This time it was on a different level, so I was able to go through the full experience, talk to Jahdae Barron and my boy Xavier Worthy. Just be able to catch up and lock in with them.”
Anderson will be making the move to corner this season after playing safety at Chabot College, a move that he feels much more confident about.
“Last season when I was at Chabot I was at safety,” he said. “I wasn’t comfortable with that, the scheme that they were running. I transferred JUCOs, now I’m at Diablo Valley College. Now I play corner and nickel where I’m more comfortable and it’s an island. Nobody gets free.”
The 6-foot-2 cornerback has taken a trip to Colorado, and is also set to visit Oklahoma. The Longhorns are looking to build up their secondary as after this season they are likely to lose Ryan Watts, Jahdae Barron, and Jerrin Thompson. While he doesn’t hold an offer yet from Texas, he made it quite clear in the interview that if one were to come it would mean a lot to him.
“For one, Texas is actually my dream school. So is Ohio State,” he said. “Just being able to have the opportunity come out here, I’m not going to pass up the opportunity up. I don’t care what I gotta spend to get out here. Texas itself is a vibe. I get to see my old time friend Xavier Worthy. It’s just always a vibe.”
Anderson revealed he has currently nine FCS offers, and is currently waiting to see what options present themselves.
