Syracuse football earns commitment from quarterback as 2024 class hits 10 members

By Emily Leiker Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse football’s list of verbal commits for 2024 hit double digits Sunday afternoon. The Orange’s 10th commitment came from Ohio quarterback Brendan Zurbrugg. Zurbrugg is 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, and plays for Alliance High School in Alliance, Ohio. He is not ranked by 247 Sports. Five other schools offered him: Toledo, Northwestern, Ball State, Bowling Green and Miami (Ohio). Syracuse offered Zurbrugg on June 7. He made an official visit to campus this weekend, per 247 Sports. He also runs track, and placed fifth in state in the 300-meter hurdles. SU quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator Jason Beck is known for working and developing QBs who are especially mobile. The Orange were in need of a quarterback in the 2024 class after not signing one in the 2023 cycle. SU’s longterm QB commit in that cycle, LaNorris Sellers, flipped his commitment on early signing day. Syracuse currently has four quarterbacks: starter Garrett Shrader, backup Carlos Del Rio-Wilson, new transfer Braden Davis and Luke MacPhail. SU’s 2024 class is No. 51 in the country per 247 Sports with the addition of Zurbrugg. Here are the class’ nine other members: Jamie Tremble (TE/WR), Clinton Robinson (CB), Noah Rosahac (IOL), Travon and Trashon Dye (LB), Tristen Graham (DE), David McMorris (DE), Zekai Wimberly (LB) and Jaden Hart (RB).
