Michigan OC Sherrone Moore to serve 1-game suspension

Not only will Michigan football be without Jim Harbaugh for the season opener, but its offensive coordinator has been sidelined, too.
Sherrone Moore has been suspended for one game and will miss the Wolverines’ game against East Carolina on Saturday (Noon, Peacock), MLive has learned.
The suspension stems from a negotiated resolution with the NCAA, which is currently investigating the Michigan football program for multiple Level II recruiting and coaching violations.
Harbaugh is facing a more severe, Level I violation for allegedly misleading investigators. Michigan has slapped him with a self-imposed three-game penalty.
Like Harbaugh, Moore will still be able to participate in practices and team meetings. He will not be allowed on the sidelines for game day.
Moore, 37, has been on the Michigan staff since 2018, when he began as a tight-ends coach. He was promoted to offensive line coach and co-offensive coordinator in 2020, and began helping call plays in 2022. Wolverines assistants faced allegations of improper recruiting and off-field violations, including watching players’ workouts on Zoom.
Defensive coordinator Jesse Minter has been tabbed as Michigan’s head coach for the opener on Saturday. It remains unclear how the Wolverines plan to coordinate the offense, but running backs coach Mike Hart or quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell are likely frontrunners to take over with Harbaugh and Moore sidelined for the opener.
