• 1 min to read EMCC safety, Tyler Woodard, commits to Mississippi State football Mississippi State football has added a local junior college product to its 2024 recruiting class. Tyler Woodard, a safety from East Mississippi Community College, announced his commitment to MSU Monday afternoon over his social media pages. Woodard, from Memphis, Tennessee, selected the Bulldogs over Arkansas and Alabama, among other Division I offers. Woodard, listed at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, is an unranked JUCO prospect, according to 247sports Composite. According to EMCC’s website, Woodard tallied 20 tackles and one interception over 10 games played last season as a freshman. He would come to Starkville with two years of eligibility remaining. The Bulldogs have numerous players on their 2023 roster that began their careers at the JUCO level, including two from Scooba in linebacker DeShawn Page and offensive lineman Nick Jones. Woodard will be the first safety in MSU’s 2024 addition with no commits in next year’s recruiting class. PJ Woodland, a four-star from Oak Grove High School, is the Bulldogs’ lone secondary commit for 2024, listed as a cornerback.
