2024 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS DRAFT

The New England Patriots 2024 Draft Recap

Team Needs:

QB, OL, CB, WR, DL

Summary:

The patriots decided not to trade out of the No. 3 position and elected to take Drake Maye to be their quarterback of the future with that selection. They also found a great value pick in WR Javon Baker in the later portion of the draft. However, based on predraft rankings it would seem that the Patriots once again had several picks that would be considered "reaches" in this draft. They also utilized their 7th round selections to draft another quarterback in Joe Milton III and hybrid TE/H-Back Jahiem Bell. I'm sure that Milton may have been considered a "value" pick when they selected him, but does that really hel the tem now when they already spent a top 5 selection on their future QB? Same for Bell, I'm sure he will be utilized in an impactful way, but how much is that role going to play in the rebulding process in New England will need to wait to be seen. Because of this the Patriots have been docked down a grade level for their overall draft grade.
