Evan Engram

TE, WR/H-BACK · Mississippi
A four-year starter at tight end, Engram lined up all over the formation at Ole Miss, spending most of his time in the slot as a hybrid pass-catcher. He leaves Oxford as the most productive tight end in program history and made the most of his decision to return for his senior season, leading the Rebels and setting career-bests in every receiving category. A three-star tight end recruit out of high school, Engram received only two scholarship offers from power-five programs, committing to Ole Miss over Wake Forest. He saw immediate playing time as a true freshman tight end (six starts) with 21 catches for 268 yards and a school freshman record three touchdowns. Engram started 12 games as a sophomore and earned a spot on the First Team All-SEC team with 38 receptions for 662 yards and two scores. He finished second on the team in receptions (38) as a junior in 2015, adding 464 yards and two touchdowns to earn Second Team All-SEC honors. Engram was the Rebels' featured receiving threat as a senior in 2016 (11 starts) and led the team with 65 catches for 926 yards and eight touchdowns (all career-bests), earning multiple All-American nods, First Team All-SEC honors and the Ozzie Newsome Award (nation's top tight end). With his body type and bulk, Engram looks more like a physical wide receiver than traditional tight end, but instead of being one or the other, he should be viewed as a hybrid of both. He is an above average athlete for his size with the route quickness and ballskills to be a dangerous receiving threat, displaying fluid adjustments and sticky hands to twist and snare. While a competitive blocker, Engram doesn't have the strength potential to be overwhelming in this area and is more of a one-pop type. His fit at the next level will vary depending on scheme, but to get the most out of his versatile skill-set, Engram projects best as a "big" slot receiver.
