Elandon Roberts

OLB, ILB · Houston
Under-recruited out of high school, Roberts was viewed as a linebacker/safety tweener and committed to FCS-level Morgan State, where he led the team with 107 tackles as a true freshman linebacker. He had the opportunity to transfer up and enrolled at FBS-level Houston, receiving a waiver to play immediately. But he was stuck behind Derrick Matthews on the depth chart with 33 combined tackles as a sophomore and junior. Roberts became a starter as a senior and finished fourth in the nation with 142 tackles, adding 19.0 tackles for loss and an interception, earning an invite to the 2016 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

he lacks ideal height for the position and is a straight-line athlete, but his instincts and first step burst allow him to be a magnet to the ball. although he has clear limitations, roberts is able to compensate due to his high football intelligence, reactive athleticism and hard-nosed temperament - natural leader with elite intangibles and love for the game.
