He spent his prep career at Cathedral High School. During his senior season (2000), he helped Cathedral to a 10-1 record, while playing every game at safety and wide receiver. Larkins helped Cathedral to two state championships during his career. He recorded 32 tackles, three interceptions, nine pass break ups, and two blocked kicks at safety his senior year. He also caught 11 passes for 263 yards and two touchdowns in 2000. As a junior (1999), he recorded 54 tackles and eight interceptions for the 4A State Champions. He also played baseball, basketball and ran track in high school.
Larkins is a Criminal Justice major at Indiana. The son of Randy and Marion Larkins was born March 17, 1983. He has one sister.
