Chosen to the All-Rowan and All-Central Carolina Conference units as a junior and senior for coach Joe Pinyan at Salisbury High School
Moved to the defensive end position during senior campaign, logging 36 stops, 13 tackles for lost yardage, three sacks, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and three pass breakups
Played his freshman season at Salisbury before attending Davie County High School during the fall semester of his sophomore year
Elected as the Hornets' team captain in 2004
Played integral role in the turn-around of the SHS program as a junior in 2003, guiding the Hornets to their first winning record (7-5) since 1995
Was the defensive MVP of a Salisbury squad which booked a 12-2 mark in 2004 and posted playoff wins over Ashe County (41-20) and North Surry (47-8) before falling to Bandys in the third round
Netted a pair of interceptions and made four fumble recoveries at the outside linebacking position as a junior
Has also earned three basketball letters for the Hornets while earning all-area and all-conference accolades on the hardwood as one of the program's top scorers and rebounders (power forward/center).
