Noteboom is an intriguing tackle prospect for zone blocking teams, showing the agility to handle protecting the edge as well as blocking downfield. He projects as swingman with the potential to develop into a starter with greater strength and knee bend. His high-cut frame and average core strength (in part due to technique), however, may make him a ZBS tackle or nothing for teams, resulting in a high variance of grades from clubs.

strengths

Possesses the requisite height, length and initial quickness to remain outside at tackle in the NFL. Among Noteboom's best attributes are his light feet and snap anticipation, consistently getting an early advantage on edge rushers and showing good quickness and agility adjusting to moving targets at the second level as a run blocker. He slides efficiently to his left, keeping his shoulders square to the defender with short, quick steps which help him maintain balance and showing patience to allow rushers to come to him, showing enough arm length to stab and steer them away. Noteboom is a quick-thinker on the field, quickly shifting from his initial responsibility to adjust to surprise blitzers and twists, getting at least a late shove on defenders breaking free. Garry Gilliam, 49ers - The 6-5, 315 pound Gilliam is now in his fourth season at tackle after spending all but his final season at Penn State at tight end. Like Noteboom, Gilliam possesses the length and agility scouts like but he is more of a wall-off than physical mauler.

weaknesses

Noteboom is not a physically intimidating lineman, possessing a relatively high cut frame with passable arm length but not the classic vines for arms scouts appreciate on the outside. He negates his own strength with high pad level (due to his height and poor knee bend), with most of his struggles in pass protection or run blocking coming with defenders winning the leverage battle with effective bull rushes - a flaw which could limit him to only playing tackle in the NFL. Noteboom gets the job done but does not show the nasty playing demeanor or striking power OL coaches would prefer, steering rather than slamming opponents, even when he has them off-balance. - Rob Rang 1/19/2018
