Zac Robinson

setup/release

Will be making the transition from the shotgun/spread offense. Has the quick feet and balance to handle dropping back from center. Efficient set-up and an over-the-top delivery with a clean, compact release. Sets his feet and steps into his throws.

reading defenses

Quickly scans the field, showing a good understanding of the offense. Will stare down his primary target and will have to do a better job of moving the safety with his eyes. When he has time, reads through his progressions when his initial target is locked up and generally makes the correct throw. Has shown a tendency to develop happy feet when he has been hit early and often in games. Has struggled a bit with allowing games to snowball a bit.

arm strength

Doesn't own a howitzer, but has enough arm strength to be a successful NFL passer. Proved underrated zip to drive passes through the tight holes for the slant and drag routes at the Senior Bowl. Places too much loft on his deep throws down the sideline, however. Has to throw the deep ball with a flatter trajectory. Relies on generating power from his lower body for his longer, harder throws, and as such struggles to put consistent drive when on the move.

intangibles

Highly respected by fans, teammates and coaches. Versatile athlete who saw time for the Cowboys at quarterback, wide receiver and running back. Proved his toughness as a senior gutting it out despite suffering from various injuries, including a strained hamstring and a concussion. Suffered the concussion absorbing a huge hit from Texas Tech safety Jamar Wall.

on the move

An underrated component to his game. Not a true scrambling threat, but is willing to step up into the pocket to evade the outside rusher. Generally keeps his eyes downfield, though he can get a little panicky when he has been under consistent pressure. Good enough accuracy on the move to be a threat, but doesn't have a strong enough arm to heave it deep without setting his feet.

accuracy

Only average overall accuracy. Able to consistently hit his man, but too often forces his receiver to adjust his route, limiting opportunities for yards-after-the catch. Inconsistent in all areas of the field, especially in the intermediate and long throws outside the hash. Flashes the ability to place the deep out low and away, but is just as often high and inside. Puts a lot of loft on passes down the seam and down the sideline, which make for easy interceptions by savvy NFL defenders. Protected a bit by his scheme in college.
