Jahmile Addae

FS · West Virginia
While other parts of the secondary have changed during his four years at West Virginia, Addae was a constant at free safety, starting his final 40 games for the Mountaineers. He has a smart football mind with excellent overall knowledge of the defense, and it would not be surprising to see Addae coaching one day when his playing career comes to an end. Addae was a first-team all-conference and all-county selection at Riverview High School, adding Florida all-star honors. He recorded 67 tackles, five interceptions, one fumble recovery, three forced fumbles and eight touchdowns as a senior. That year, he helped the Sharks to a 9-3 record and the state semifinals. He also lettered in track, participating in the long jump and 100 meters, and anchored the 4x100 relay team. Addae joined West Virginia in 2001 and was scheduled to redshirt, but injuries in the secondary forced him to start his first career game. He recorded 18 tackles (11 solos) in five games. He took over strong safety duties in 2002, starting every game. He ranked second in the Big East Conference with four interceptions and deflected 16 passes while registering a career-high 99 tackles (64 solos). He also recovered one fumble. Addae was primed for a banner junior season, but after only two games, he was shut down for the season due to a shoulder injury. He finished 2003 with 13 tackles (6 solos) and a forced fumble. He was back at free safety in 2004, earning first-team All-Big East honors. Addae posted 59 tackles (36 solos) with four pass breakups and two interceptions. The team captain earned All-Big East Conference and All-ECAC first-team honors in 2005. He registered 64 tackles (35 solos) and intercepted two passes, returning one for a score. He batted away five passes, caused one fumble and recovered two. In 44 games at West Virginia, Addae started 40 times. He recorded 235 tackles (141 solos) with 1.5 stops for losses of 6 yards. He recovered three fumbles and caused two others. He deflected 27 passes and intercepted eight for 109 yards in returns, including one touchdown.
