Nick Folk

P, K · Arizona
Folk helped himself with a strong performance at the Senior Bowl, and his accuracy inside 40 yards is intriguing. His ability as a punter and distance on kickoffs warrants a long look in the later rounds. Folk is the first Arizona place-kicker in the draft since 1994 Lou Groza Award winner Steve McLaughlin was picked in the third round by St. Louis in 1995. All-American Max Zendejas was drafted in the fourth round by the Cowboys in the 1986 draft but was traded to Washington before his three NFL seasons. Folk was the first-team All-Pac-10 punter and league leader, while also making 15 of 20 field-goal attempts in 2006 last year and 30 of 47 overall in his career.

positives

Averaged 70-plus yards on kickoffs with above average hang time to allow his coverage unit to get into place. Double duty as a punter the past two seasons, averaging 44 yards per attempt with a long of 78. Showed surprising touch, placing 24 punts inside the 20-yard line and forcing seven fair catches with only 10 touchbacks. Improved accuracy throughout his career, making 19 of 23 field-goal attempts (83 percent) from inside 40 yards the past three seasons. A 62-yarder in the 2006 Spring Game displayed leg strength.

negatives

Hit just 64 percent (30 of 47) of his career field-goal attempts. Considerable struggles from 40 yards and out (11 of 27, 41 percent) despite leg strength. Only 11 of 27 (41 percent) from beyond 40 yards.
