Justin Holland

QB · Colorado State
Holland is a respected team leader who came back from a fractured left ankle in 2004 to set a school season-record with 23 touchdown tosses as a senior. His 3,185 aerial yards was the second-most in a season by a Colorado State passer and his 3,011 yards in total offense during his final season ranks third in CSU annals. After spending two seasons as a reserve behind Bradlee Van Pelt, Holland stepped into the starting lineup in 2004. He hit on 121-of-197 passes (61.4%) for 1,622 yards and six touchdowns before hurting his ankle in the San Diego State game. Fully recovered in 2005, he etched his name in the record books by connecting on235-of-369 passes (63.7%) for 3,185 yards, 23 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. In 38 games at CSU, Holland started 19 times. He gained 5,668 yards on 426-of-681 throws (62.6%) with 36 touchdowns and 32 interceptions. He carried 69 times for losses totaling 291 yards and finished with 5,377 yards in total offense on 629 touches.

positives

Has an even-proportioned frame with room for additional growth...Tough athlete who will play through pain...Shows adequate foot quickness and body control getting to his throwing point...Carries the ball up and has a compact over-the-top delivery...Has the arm strength to generate velocity on his long throws...When given time to throw, he shows good touch...Good take-charge leader who can hit the deep post in stride, demonstrating good zip on all his throws...Has good pocket pressure awareness and does a nice job adjusting in the pocket...Has the body control to throw on the move with decent accuracy.

negatives

Has a decent frame, but needs to add better muscle tone...Has good arm strength, but just lacks consistency...Has good touch, except when pressured and then forces his tosses, taking the receiver off his route...Tends to lock on to his primary target too long and is slow to locate his secondary receivers, which then see him force the ball into traffic, causing for his high amount of interceptions...Can throw on the move, but does not have the hip snap to elude or the foot speed to gain valid yardage when flushed out of the pocket.

2004-Suffered a right fibula fracture vs. San Diego State that would sideline him for the team's final five games.
