Recent Jeff Driskel Notes
Jeff Driskel
possesses a quick set-up and delivery of the football with a snappy, over-the-top release. generates good velocity on short and underneath routes, zipping passes through tight windows with confidence. throws with very good trajectory on deep balls, lofting the pass high and with enough accuracy to allow his receivers to catch up to them.
Good athleticism for the position. Senses defenders closing in and protects the ball, showing some lateral agility to avoid and scramble for yardage, as well as the strength to break tackles.
strengths
Has the physical tools with his size/athleticism profile and is playing with much more confidence from the pocket. Well-built quarterback with good overall weight distribution.
only average ball placement on quick passes to the flats and on screens, too often forcing receivers to adjust and limiting their opportunities for yardage after the catch.
IN OUR VIEW
weaknesses
Career resurrection came in a relatively simple shotgun-heavy offense boasting plenty of talent and pre-determined reads. Has a tendency to sail intermediate and deeper crossing routes when he needs a little more velocity, raising concerns about his ability to make every NFL throw.
many dismissed him as a legitimate nfl prospect after his struggles at florida, but driskel reinvented himself at louisiana tech this past season, rebuilding his confidence. the physical traits are there with his size, arm strength and athleticism. driskel has tremendous leadership and might be the most intriguing of the day three passing prospects in this year's draft class.
