Eric Ayomanor

WR · Stanford

OVERVIEW

Elic Ayomanor has the physical tools and competitive edge that NFL teams look for in a wide receiver. His speed, strong hands, and ability to high-point the football make him a deep threat who can stretch the field. Ayomanor's performance in critical moments, like his standout game against Colorado, shows he can deliver under pressure. However, Ayomanor's game isn't without its flaws. He struggles to create separation consistently and can rely too much on his physicality rather than technique. This could limit his effectiveness against top NFL cornerbacks. Improving his route running and ability to make sharp cuts will be crucial for his success at the next level. Overall, Ayomanor's strengths make him a promising prospect, but he will need to refine his skills to become a reliable NFL receiver. His potential to be a game-changer is evident, but developing consistency will be key. If he can polish his route running and separation skills, Ayomanor has the upside to be a valuable addition to any NFL offense.

 BACKGROUND

Ayomanor is from Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada,  but moved to the United States for his high school education, attending Peddie School in New Jersey before transferring to Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts. At Deerfield, he led the team to an MPAL title and earned varsity letters in both track and football, setting league records in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. His football talents earned him a three-star recruit rating by ESPN and 247 Sports. After offers from several top schools, he chose to attend Stanford. In his redshirt sophomore season in 2023, Ayomanor emerged as a standout player for Stanford. He recorded 62 receptions for 1,013 yards and six touchdowns, becoming the first Cardinal player to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in a season since 2018. His performance included a school-record 294-yard game against Colorado, where he scored three touchdowns. Ayomanor's efforts earned him several accolades, including the Jon Cornish Trophy, First Team Freshman All-America by PFF, and multiple Offensive Player of the Week honors. Throughout his college career, Ayomanor demonstrated his prowess on the field despite Stanford's challenging quarterback situation. His resilience was evident as he returned from a severe knee injury that caused him to miss the entire 2022 season. His impressive 2023 season performance placed him fifth in the Pac-12 for receiving yards.

 PROS

Ayomanor accelerates quickly and possesses good straight-line speed, showing solid ball-tracking skills and body control downfield. Strong hands and extremely competitive, with an innate sense of timing for elevating and high-pointing balls. Effective in catch-and-run situations, showing good vision and the ability to make tacklers miss in space. Reliable hands, willing to make catches in traffic over the middle. Precise route runner, creating separation on quick outs and stop patterns, with good stop-start ability and lateral agility. Dangerous in both catch-and-run scenarios and taking the top off a defense. Good ball-tracking skills and hand-eye coordination, especially on underthrown balls and back-shoulder throws. Physical and competitive, often breaking tackles and giving effort as a downfield blocker.

 CONS

Struggles to gear down and make sharp cuts to create separation underneath. Does not consistently create a lot of separation one-on-one. Comfortable in traffic to the point of not always making an effort to create separation. Can rely too much on physicality rather than technique to win matchups. Inconsistent against top-level defenders, sometimes struggling to adjust to elite coverage.
