Alabama commit Sterling Dixon’s status for remainder of Spanish Fort season in doubt

Alabama commit Sterling Dixon’s status for the remainder of his senior season in high school is in serious doubt. The Spanish Fort linebacker tore his labrum in Friday night’s 8-3 victory over Theodore. It’s the same shoulder injury that ended his sophomore season at Mobile Christian.

His father, Sterling Dixon Sr. , told AL. com the family is awaiting word on a possible surgery date later this week.

They also haven’t talked with Spanish Fort coach Chase Smith about the injury and Dixon’s future playing status since Friday night. Dixon (6-3, 211) left Friday’s game once at Theodore, had his shoulder wrapped and then re-entered the game. When he left the second time, he didn’t return.

As a junior at Mobile Christian a year ago, Dixon set several school records, finishing with 172 tackles and 18 sacks. He also had 39 tackles for a loss. He transferred to Spanish Fort in August.

Dixon leads the Toros in tackles with 64 (20 solo, 44 assists). He also has seven sacks, 10 QB hurries and 12 tackles for a loss. Dixon was No.
