The PrepStar and SuperPrep All-American received votes for Best in the West inclusion by the Long Beach Press-Telegram despite being limited to only three games his senior year due to a foot injury. Was ranked among the top 25 defensive backs in the country by SuperPrep magazine as well as the 21st-best prep prospect in the state after converting from safety to cornerback in 2003. The two-year defensive starter for a program ranked No. 1 in the country for his last three years (151-game winning streak) also averaged 6.5 yards per carry in brief running back stint before suffering physical setback. Accumulated second-team all-state honors as a junior, averaging 10.1 yards per carry (747 yards) and scoring 15 touchdowns.
